Butterfly on a Wheel: The Math

3 Talented Actors fresh of critical hits like The Matador, 300, and A History of Violence.

+

A done-to-death plot along the lines of Trapped (and countless
others).

+

Horrible, hokey dialogue and lots of tears.

Straight to TNT movie Butterfly on a Wheel.

A worse movie I cannot remember seeing (although I'm sure I have). You should check it out, if only to see star Gerard Butler fight, not with villain Peirce Brosnan, but with his undefeatable Scottish accent.

Seriously. That accent does not die. Not as a Spartan, and not as a schmuck American businessman. Every other word is a barely concealed rolling 'R' or a stretchy vowel. Time for directors and writers to give up and use this versatile actor as the Scotsman he is. 'Cause he ain't anything else. Maybe he's Beowful (the Scotsman) or King Leonidas (the Spartan-Scotsman) or, as in the upcoming P.S. I Love You, Gerry Kennedy (the Irish-Scotsman), but he's a Scotsman. Just accept.

Worse of all, the film does not even offer any guilty pleasures. No nudity or sex or violence. It is fun watching Brosnan be a total ass and then crying about it. Definitely worth an illegal pirate. Enjoy.

I love your analysis.

PS, The Matador was quite up there in best movies of my '07 list.
